Andrea McGinty, born in 1985 in Sunrise, FL, received her MFA in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York, NY (2014) and a BA in Art History from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL (2007). McGinty’s work has been exhibited internationally, including recent solo exhibitions Real Simple at Liberal Arts Roxbury, Roxbury, NY, and Clint Eastwood at Sunny NY, New York, NY. She has been featured in exhibitions at Rachel Uffner, New York, NY; Bibeau Krueger, New York, NY; Lighthouse Works, Fishers Island, NY; VSOP Projects, Greenport, NY; International Waters Brooklyn, NY; Essex Flowers, New York, NY; and East Hampton Shed, East Hampton, NY. McGinty’s work has been reviewed in The Brooklyn Rail. She is a 2023 grant recipient from The Peter S. Reed Foundation and was awarded a fellowship by The Lighthouse Works in 2018. McGinty is the author of “A Quieter Person with More Boxes” and “Ah Yes, Bad Things,” published by Soft City Printing (2022, 2017; Brooklyn, NY), and “God, I Don't Even Know Your Name,” published by Badlands Unlimited (2015; New York, NY) and released as part of Paul Chan’s Hugo Boss Prize exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum of Art. She is based in Hamden, NY.
