Sofía del Mar Collins, born in 1995 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, completed her MFA in Studio Art at Hunter College in New York, NY (2021). Collins creates projects across painting, drawing, soft sculpture, installation, video, and performance that engage spatial dynamics and material circularities where boundaries between the birth and decay of images flood from bodily affect towards a changing, interstitial landscape. She held her most recent solo exhibition, To Turn Into Rain and Fall Again, at Rachel Uffner Gallery in New York, NY (2024). Previously, she mounted her first solo show, Nadie in Casa, at Souvenir 154 in San Juan, PR (2023). Collins graduated with the Geraldine Putnam Prize for Visual Arts (2017) from Sarah Lawrence College, where she concentrated her BA studies in Sociology and Visual Arts.
